✶ about the webmaster
Hi, I'm the guy who runs this website! I'm a university student studying Arabic, International Studies, and Museum Studies. Once I finish my undergrad I'll get my MLIS so I can be a librarian :)
Some stuff I love: My Chemical Romance and other associated 2000s emo music. Hockey--my favorite teams are the San Jose Sharks and the Dallas Stars but I follow many more, mostly in (but not limited to) the NHL. Birdwatching. Cooking and occasionally baking, even though I don't know what I'm doing. Reading, but despite my best efforts I cannot name a singular favorite book. (Can you tell this distressed me as I was writing out my favorites on the sidebar...)
I spend probably not enough time studying languages! I'm in an intensive Arabic program right now and I've been casually learning Russian for about six years. I think the next language I want to take a shot at is Finnish, which definitely has nothing to do with all the Finnish players on the Dallas Stars. Hopefully one day I'll also pick Spanish back up.
Important personal information enclosed.
My Taco Bell order: Black Bean Chalupa Supreme. Beefy 5 layer burrito, replace beef with black beans, grilled*. Medium Baja Blast*shoutout Gab :)
✶ about the website
Oxalis Violacea is the scientific name of violet wood sorrel, a native flower I grew up eating a lot of. Growing up, my friends and I called them sour flowers, hence my website's title. Plus, it rhymes!
I created Sour Flowers on October 19, 2024, but it has only been functional since December 28, 2024. Sour Flowers 2.0 (this version!) has been under construction since August 17, 2025. I have wanted a personal website for years, because I (like many others) dislike the current state of social media and have made an effort to step away. Sour Flowers is my attempt at something different: an expression of creativity, a love letter to the 2000s and old web, a learning experience, and most importantly: a place to fuck around and have a good time online!
